چکیده

We examine extended bound states in the dilute limit of the extended Hubbard model with next-nearest-neighbour (nnn) hopping and nnn interaction on the two dimensional square lattice. By the exact solution of a two-body problem we show that d-wave pairing is strongly favored by the nnn hopping. We determine the binding energies, mobilities and dispersion curves across Brillouin zone (B.z.) for bound states of various symmetries. The numerical analysis shows that the deep bound states can exist in the whole B.z. and we have also found s * − d mixing of the bound states.

A magnetic field applied to a cross linked ladder compound can generate isolated electronic states bound to the ends of the chain. After exploring the interference phenomena responsible, I discuss a connection to the domain wall approach to chiral fermions in lattice gauge theory. The robust nature of the states under small variations of the bond strengths is tied to chiral symmetry and the mul...

Magnetic phase diagram of the Hubbard model with next-nearest-neighbour hopping

We calculate the magnetic phase diagram of the Hubbard model for a Bethe lattice with nearest neighbour (NN) hopping t1 and next nearest neighbour (NNN) hopping t2 in the limit of infinite coordination. We use the amplitude t2/t1 of the NNN hopping to tune the density of states (DOS) of the non-interacting system from a situation with particle-hole symmetry to an asymmetric one with van-Hove si...

Structural and insulator-metal quantum phase transitions on a lattice

We consider 2D gas of spinless fermions with the Coulomb and the short range interactions on a square lattice at T = 0. Using exact diagonalization technique we study finite clusters up to 16 particles at filling factors ν = 1/2 and 1/6. By increasing the hopping amplitude we obtain the low-energy spectrum of the system in a wide range from the classical Wigner crystal to almost free gas of fer...

Nonextensive E ects in Tight - Binding Systems with Long - Range Hopping

Consequences of long-range hopping in one-dimensional tight-binding models are studied. A hopping term proportional to 1=r ij is used, where rij denotes the distance between atoms i and j and determines the range of the interactions within the system. Calculations of the di usion of an electron along the lattice yield interesting e ects of nonextensivity. In particular, we nd that the mean squa...
